The 6th edition of International Conference of the Department of Information and Knowledge Management (DIKM), University of Botswana solicits abstracts in any area that relates to Information and Knowledge Management in the age of artificial intelligence (AI). For reasons of its capability to perform tasks generally associated with human intelligence, such as learning, reasoning, perception, problem-solving , and decision-making, artificial intelligence has made a grand entry into the world of information and knowledge like any other human enterprise. It has become an invention that is altering the lives of professionals and determined to modify the way professional tasks are carried out. The infiltration of AI extends to the management of information and knowledge. It has been echoed in our previous conferences that Africa is perceived as undergoing information and communication technology (ICT) revolution, which since the start of the millennium has seen significant growth, but then, it seems the continent still lags behind in the trending artificial intelligence and largely left unexplored. What is the extent of involvement or application of AI in information and knowledge (management) in African libraries, Archives, records, information and knowledge centres? How does Africa fair in the use of AI when juxtaposed with what obtains elsewhere? To what extent has AI been infused in information and knowledge management in Africa and elsewhere?
It is in the light of the above that DIKM proposes to hold a three-day conference on the theme “Information and Knowledge Management in the Age of Artificial Intelligence”.
