Association of Southern African Professional Archaeologists Biennial Conference (ASAPA 2013), 3-7 July 2013 to be held at University of Botswana, Gaborone

The Local Organising Committee of the 2013 Association of Southern African Professional Archaeologists is honoured to announce the call for abstracts for the upcoming conference. Participants are invited to submit abstracts for oral and poster presentations under the following themes:


  1. In conversation with stakeholders: Applicability of Indigenous Knowledge System to Archaeological research and Heritage Resource Management
  2. Round Table Discussion The future direction of southern African historical archaeology revised
  3. Landscape archaeology in southern Africa
  4. New advances in the application of theory in southern African archaeology
  5. The application of style in southern African archaeological studies
  6. Stone Age
  7. Pottery and People
  8. Water and Social Formation
  9. Metals and other minerals mining manufacture trade and use
  10. Bread and butter archaeology World Heritage Promises and community development in southern Africa
  11. The realm and practice of Archaeological Heritage Management in SADC
  12. Burial Archaeology and osteoarchaeology
  13. Archaeology in the Digital Age
  14. The archaeology of farming communities
  1. The conference schedule and presentation schedule has been uploaded
